Dr. Francesco Sala Dr. Francesco Sala is Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the Department of Neurological Sciences and Movement of the University of Verona. He has been an Executive Board member for the European Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery and the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery.
In 1998-1999 he trained with Dr. Vedran Deletis as Clinical Fellow in Intraoperative Neurophysiology at the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery in New York. Upon his return to Italy, Dr. Sala established the service of Intraoperative Neurophysiology at his Department in Verona.
Since 2000, about 1300 elective neurosurgical procedures have been performed under the guidance of intraoperative neurophysiology. Dr. Sala has been a co-founder of the International Society for Intraoperative Neurophysiology (ISIN), where he has served as Secretary (2009-2011), Chair of the Educational Committee (2010-2013) and President (2013-2015).
